Why You Should Consider TECEP® Credit-By-Exam

Craving more credits in less time? Then credit-by-exam may be for you.

The Thomas Edison Credit by Examination Program (TECEP®) has helped a multitude of students earn credit by taking exams rather than enrolling in more traditionally-structured courses.

Credit-by-exam offers options for earning credit toward your degree with an efficiency and flexibility that is unmatched by most other methods of course completion. There are no written assignments and interaction with instructional staff isn't necessary – just take one exam and you can earn credit for an entire academic term's worth of assignments.

Cost effectiveness is another significant advantage of choosing credit-by-exam. TECEP® exams costs $39 per credit for enrolled students (or, $117 per 3-credit course).

Flexibility is the major advantage of earning credit-by-exam. The University recognizes that students who choose this method all begin with different levels of knowledge of the exam subject matter and take different amounts of time to prepare. You can study at your own pace and register to take your exam when you feel you are ready.

We'll help you prepare. Our online TECEP® test descriptions, which will help you warm up for your exam, include suggested study materials, information about the test format as well as sample test questions. By reviewing the test description material you will know what to expect and how to prepare. TECEP® exams are similar to final exams for college courses. Most have multiple-choice questions and some have short-answer or essay questions. They are graded on a credit/no-credit basis and by passing, you receive college credit.

Enjoy choices? In addition to TECEP® credits, the University also accept credits resulting from other credit-by-exam programs like the College Board's College-Level Examination Program (CLEP®), DSST Exams (formerly known as DANTES) and the New York University Foreign Language Proficiency Testing Program among others.
