Career Advancement: Chance or Choice?

Careers...we choose and prepare for them; they also choose us.

Be it by chance or choice, creating a career and continuously developing it can be professionally rewarding and personally satisfying.

Careers are constructed over time. They are nurtured and negotiated, revised and rejuvenated. Careers change as we change, they express our desire to create, our ability to construct, and our commitment to contribute to enterprises.

Advancing careers can be a managed process. Identifying areas of professional interest and acquiring the knowledge, competencies and skills necessary to advance those interests can fuel career aspirations and lead to professional success. Higher education is a key component in this objective. Earning a college degree can enable you to achieve your goals as well as change the trajectory of your life. Without a degree, 21st century business and management professionals are often subjected to competitive or employment disadvantages.

As the School's chief academic officer, I regularly consult with students, alumni and stakeholders concerning the value and relevance of a Thomas Edison State University degree. I invite you to contact me to discuss the importance of earning a business degree and its influence on your career advancement.

Email me to share your views. I look forward to hearing from you!
