Success Story

TESU graduates come from all walks of life, but each has a common purpose: The desire to finish what they started.

Thomas Edison State University is honored to partner with some of the largest, most respected corporations in the world and employers across every business sector.

Through the Corporate Choice® program at the University, we focus on developing partnerships that enable organizations to cultivate their human capital and enhance staff development, recruitment and retention programs.

Xaymara Reynolds, MSHRM '17, bears witness to the transformational nature of higher education. Reynolds’ employer, the State of New Jersey, formed a strategic partnership with the University in 2005 with the objective of developing a stronger workforce and increasing employee retention. Here's more about Reynolds and what earning her degree means to her:

Xaymara Reynolds at-a-glance:

Job title: Administrative analyst with the State of New Jersey

Length of time to degree completion: Two years. "I have always been an overachiever and I wanted to finish my Master of Science in Human Resources Management (MSHRM) degree within two years just like I did my bachelor's. I'm glad I was able to accomplish my goal and complete my personal deadline.”

Personal story: "I love education, learning and writing. My mother always told to me, 'You were born smart,' and I never understood the meaning. Now that I have completed my education, I know exactly what she meant. She meant that I am a learner and a teacher at the same time. I am constantly seeking to further my education, currently I'm looking into a doctoral program; that's the learning portion of my life. The teaching portion I instill in my son, Adrian, and my nieces and nephew. I always tell them, 'Do your best and the rest will follow.' I am currently applying this to my own life, I'm doing my best and the rest is following."

Degree earned: Master of Science in Human Resources Management

The "ROI" according to Reynolds: "The State of New Jersey provided me with the opportunity to finance my degree. I was able to fund some of my education through its tuition reimbursement program, and I couldn't be more grateful. At the time, being a single mother, that assistance and the scholarship support I received from the University gave me the tools I needed to earn my degree and further my career."
