The 2015 Student Communications Survey results revealed how we are measuring up

The results of the 2015 Student Communications Survey gave us a glimpse of how students like you feel about our Web-based student communications, printed publications, Online Student Services, your online course experience and your preferred method of contact.

Responses indicated that an increasing number of you are connecting with us on social media, and many students expressed an interest in the College developing a live, online chat wherein you can connect with the Learner Support Center or Office of Academic Advising staff.

The College was pleased to attract a 14 percent response to the 3,000 graduate and undergraduate students surveyed.

Key highlights of the survey:

Percentage of Students Surveyed
Reported that:
82 percent they are either very satisfied or satisfied with the College's website, email outreach, social media and the myEdison® student portal
88 percent their preferred method of receiving course and program-related information from the College is email
68 percent they would not prefer receiving information about courses, course registration or degree program via text message
20 percent they visit the College's Facebook page on a regular basis and 12 percent visit our LinkedIn page, reflecting a significant increase in visits since 2011
76 percent they are interested in a live, online chat feature in order to speak directly with student service representatives
82 percent they are either very satisfied or satisfied with the College's newly designed myEdison® student portal
84 percent they are either very satisfied or satisfied with their Online Student Services experience
24 percent they either always or very often read the College's student magazine mailer Signals

When asked what type of information and stories students would like to see more often in our student publications and newsletters, the most common student responses were:

  • More success stories/profiles of successful alums
  • More information about the job market and employment trends for specific academic areas
  • More student resources and tips for being successful in courses
  • More information on course deadlines
  • More stories geared toward military students; and more information or advice on handling college costs and financial aid.

If you were among the students who responded, we thank you. The survey responses will provide an invaluable tool in the College's ability to improve the quality of our students' experience.

"We are honored that so many students took the time to complete the survey," said Joe Guzzardo, the College's communications director. "Learning how our students feel about how we communicate with them helps us make improvements and serve them better."
