"After being a school teacher for so many years, I assumed that the next step was to become an administrator in the field," said Paula Guzman-Bell, MALS '17. However, part of the way through her graduate-level studies she realized that it wasn't the right fit, so she switched her focus. "I applied to the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program, said Guzman-Ball. "The Learner-Designed Area of Study was perfect for me." When life took an unexpected turn and she became a single parent, she would need to shift her focus again. "My two children and I moved about six times until we found the right place for us. Once they settled in, I returned to my studies," she said. "I now look forward to our future and I know that my degree has made me an even better educational professional and human being."
