George Coley, BSAST '15

George Coley, BSAST '15, began his academic journey by passing his General Education Development (GED) test. "I've worked as a building custodian, a casino dealer and a barber," said Coley, who now serves as a technical support specialist for Enroute Computer Solutions. "It was while I was employed as a janitor for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that co-workers convinced me that I could advance with education." He took their advice, put his energies into studying and became a Certified Novell Administrator. Soon after, he landed a position as a junior programmer/analyst for the FAA and continued his IT training to earn his UNIX System Administration Certificate. "Colleagues told me that credits from my certifications would transfer into a degree program at Thomas Edison State, so I enrolled." Coley used credits for his licenses and certifications and online courses to complete his BSAST degree program in Information Technology requirements. (Photo: Catherine "Cie" Stroud)
